Vertical extension of the A-Block academic building at KIOT Salem — adding a new floor above an occupied, functioning campus.

An additional floor raised over the existing A-Block at Knowledge Institute of Technology, Salem — an autonomous engineering college affiliated to Anna University. Building above a live, occupied campus called for careful sequencing, protection and safety at every step.

The new level was set out directly over the existing structure, with columns, beams and roof slab cast to match the building below. Green safety netting and edge protection screened the works while the lower floors continued in daily academic use.

Rapid Green Builders coordinated the reinforcement, shuttering and concreting to strict alignment and level, so the extension reads as a seamless part of the original A-Block. Careful staging kept dust, noise and disruption to a minimum across the campus.
